Saturday, October 14: Final day in London - We left Oxford and traveled into London for the last day. We began at the British Library and British Museum. One of the most remarkable exhibits at the Library was the Magna Carta, complete with a modern translation. The British Museum has so many wonderful sights, from the Rosetta Stone to the Greek, Roman, and European treasures, that we could have spent meany hours there. After walking around a bit, we took a short rest in the Reading Room.

We then went over to the Tower of London, the castle begun by William the Conqueror and added to for many hundreds of years. This really gives a feeling for the long history of this beautiful country. Our afternoon ended with a view of London Bridge as we prepared for our journey home.

We stopped for delicious dinner at a Chinese restaurant in London's Chinatown, then caught the train to the airport where we stayed overnight at a nearby hotel, catching our early morning flight back to the States. It was a brief but relaxing trip to England and France, but it really whetted our appetites for more travel in these beautiful countries.
